SIP, an independent marketer of specialty oils and fluids for a range of industries, has partnered with Novvi – a Brazil-based joint venture of Amyris and Cosan S.A. Industria e Comercioto – to distribute NovaSpec renewable base oils across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. SIP produces a range of oils, including refined white oils for cosmetic, lotions and suncare products, and industrial oils and sealants.

NovaSpec base oils, derived from plant sugars and primarily used as lubricants, are designed to emulate the flexibility and broad applicability of mineral oils. They have significantly greater biodegradability and renewability, and reduced toxicity when compared with petroleum-sourced base oils, according to the company.

Kerry Larkin, SIP’s Director of Marketing and Development said the partnership was a strategic fit, and Novvi CEO Jeffrey Brown agreed, noting that both companies see the need for “high performance and environmental solutions.”
