The Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association (CTPA) is the voice of the cosmetic and personal care industry in the UK, promoting good working practice and representing the interest of its members through active dialogue with UK Government, European and international regulators, interested stakeholders and media. Membership comprises manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, retailers and service providers, from SMEs to multi-nationals.

CTPA is currently recruiting for a key regulatory role to support its regulatory services department in progressing this leading trade association’s objectives of shaping the regulatory framework for cosmetics and provide to direct support to CTPA member companies.

The successful candidate must possess comprehensive knowledge of the regulatory framework for cosmetics in the UK and EU, and previous experience within the cosmetics industry would be preferable.

A degree in a scientific or legal discipline would be desirable, but not essential. A background in regulatory affairs, product development and claims evaluation would be an advantage.

Demonstrable skills in the review, interpretation and evaluation of legislation are required, as are a high level of computer literacy, excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

Attention to detail and a methodical approach to working are essential and the position requires the ability of working independently and proactively.

This office-based position in central London involves gathering information and views from industry to make representation to the UK Government and other stakeholders; researching and keeping abreast of regulatory issues in the UK and EU and communicating this information to members; creating advice and guidance to be made available through online resources; managing relevant committees; and providing direct support to members.

CTPA’s participation at Cosmetics Europe, the European personal care association, is also within the role’s areas of responsibility and will eventually require some degree of international travel.

The CTPA is offering an attractive salary according to experience, with private healthcare and a workplace pension scheme. The offices are centrally located in London, W1.
