Rahn launches carbon-neutral active ingredient

Published: 18-Jan-2019

Rahn has introduced what it describes as the first carbon-neutral ‘nutribooster’ for skin and hair.

Called Cellactive, the ingredient combines the microalga Chlorella vulgaris and white lupin, both of which are well known sources of nutritional building blocks including amino acids, proteins and carbohydrates.

In the epidermis, the ingredient stimulates the production of adhesion proteins (improving cellular cohesion). On a dermal level, it triggers the production of multiple extracellular matrix components to help skin regain firmness and elasticity.

Cellactive also encourages hair follicle longevity thanks to this invigorated cellular cohesion. It also imparts an anti-static effect and structural benefits to hair.

The material is climate-neutral and is said to pave the way for other cosmetic active ingredients with excellent transparency across the whole supply chain.
