Burberry Body to launch in September

Interparfums has reported sales of €163m in first-half 2011 helped by a rise in second quarter sales of 7% to €77.4m. Group sales in first half against an elevated comparison-base, due to the launch last year of the Burberry Sport and Oriens lines, rose 8.2% in terms of stable exchange rates.

Sales of Jimmy Choo and Montblanc perfumes in first half reached €13.1m and €12.6m respectively. Burberry sales fell 13% to €85.3m and sales of Van Cleef and Arpels products declined by 22% to €9.9m. However, Paul Smith perfumes increased sales by 19% to €7.1m and Lanvin went up 14% to €26.2m.

Inter has said the reported drop in Burberry was due to the high comparison-base following the Burberry Sport launch in first half 2010 while the Van Cleef and Arpels dip reflects the Oriens launch last year.

Strong growth was reported in Latin America (+19%), eastern Europe (+16%) and Asia (+14%) while western European sales expanded by 8% and domestic sales in France rose 6% in the reporting period.

President Philippe Benacin said the second half of this year would be marked by the world market launch in September of Burberry Body which is expected to dynamise fourth quarter and help achieve the 2011 sales target of €350m.
