Plastic that feels “sturdy enough to take a bullet"

Published: 24-Mar-2021

Heavy wall PET is not your ordinary cosmetic packaging

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is rapidly becoming the world's preferred packaging material for food and drink. It does not contain bisphenol-A (BPA) or phthalates (plasticizers), and is fully recyclable.

But the presentation of, for instance, a single-serving flimsy water bottle is not ideal for a luxury hair care or skin care brand.

That’s why, at Epopack, we have pioneered the Heavy Wall style for cosmetic packaging.

It is a balancing act:

Solidity implies luxury, security, trust. But that can risk going overboard into hefty, heavy, wasteful. For example, double-layer acrylic bottles may feel sturdy enough. However they leave the impression of “over-packaging”.

We’ve designed our PET Heavy Wall bottles and jars to be incredibly robust, while still looking sleek and remaining lightweight.

Although the high-clarity appearance makes them seem like glass, they are completely shatterproof.

“It feels sturdy enough to take a bullet” said one brand owner after she requested a sample.

Well, to be honest, our PET packaging is in fact not bulletproof. But it certainly seems that way in your hand.

Ultimately, brands using this material:

  • Remain eco-friendly, with the world’s most-recyclable plastic
  • Maintain a high-end appearance (on the shelf it looks like glass)
  • Minimise shipping issues, with lower weights and no breakage.

Epopack’s PET Heavy Wall bottles and jars are available in many sizes and shapes, fully customizable for decoration and attachments.
