Jonathan Myers, formerly from P&G, will assume the position of CEO from 1 May

Personal care heavyweight PZ Cussons has poached Avon’s Chief Operating Officer to serve as its CEO.

Jonathan Myers has been with the direct-selling company since 2017 and previously spent two decades working across a host of brands owned by consumer goods firm P&G.

From 1 May, he takes over the role from Alex Kanellis who announced his retirement in December.

“This is an exciting time to be joining PZ Cussons and taking the business forward as its new CEO,” said Myers.

“It is a company with a rich heritage but with an equally bright future, driven by a portfolio of some of the world’s best-loved brands.

“I look forward to working with Caroline, the wider executive team and every member of the PZ Cussons family to create that bright future.”

PZ Cussons is responsible for personal care brands including Imperial Leather, St. Tropez, Carex and Sanctuary Spa.

Caroline Silver, PZ Cussons’ executive chair, added: “Jonathan is an excellent appointment for the company as our new CEO.

“His wealth of experience in our product categories and of doing business in both developed and developing markets will be invaluable.

“In addition, Jonathan’s track record of successful business turnarounds will serve us well as we continue to deliver on the company’s strategy of focus, scale and accelerate.”
