For sub-Saharan Africa's second largest market, Nigeria in West Africa, the personal care products sector has experienced some growth despite several key challenges hindering producers. The sector has grown by more than 30% regarding both sales and production since 2010, a senior official at the Nigerian Association of Indigenous Cosmetics Manufacturers and Suppliers (ASICOMAS) tells SPC. The Nigerian personal care product industry now turns over more than $1.20bn a year, according to the official, and he says that Nigerian sales of colour cosmetics have grown by 35% between 2009 and 2014.
