BeautyPlus allows users to create and retouch short videos for profile

Meitu has announced that users of its BeautyPlus app are now able to create, retouch and post short videos to their Facebook video profiles within the app.

Facebook recently rolled out a new update for its service, allowing users to add 7-second video clips to their profiles. To celebrate the launch, Meitu worked with a group of app developers, including Boomerang by Instagram, Vine, Flixel and MSQRD, to help Facebook promote the new feature.

Ryan Houx, Product Marketing Manager at Facebook, said: “We are very excited about the integration between Meitu’s BeautyPlus and Facebook profile videos. It’s partners like Meitu that will help our users create entirely new ways to express their personalities on Facebook.”

BeautyPlus helps smartphone users make photos and video selfies using simple retouch tools and filters. It currently has more than 100 million users worldwide. Users will now also be able to retouch their 7-second video selfies with its new “Make Profile Video” feature.

Frank Fu, Managing Director of Meitu Global Operations, added: “We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Facebook. By integrating the new Facebook video feature into BeautyPlus we are making sure that every video a user creates with our app becomes a video worth sharing.”

BeautyPlus is available to download on the App Store as well as through Google Play.
