Australian entrepreneur Poppy King made her foray into beauty at the age of 18 with a line of lipsticks. Having built a multimillion dollar business, and spending a stint in New York as the head of marketing for Estée Lauder’s Prescriptives brand, she is now back in the lipstick business with her Lipstick Queen brand. It launched on QVC in the UK and US last year.

How did you decide what to offer the QVC customer?
I wanted to have a fantastic kit that covered a range of different moods and looks. In our kit that is exclusive to QVC there is just this. It includes a trend colour, a quintessential bright red and a tinted sheer shade.

Why did you partner with QVC?
It came down to their global and national reach. It’s great to be able to bring our products to customers in all parts of the country – not just to those that live near major shopping hubs. We can talk directly to the customer and speak to her about what the products are about and why they’re great.
