Published: 12-Apr-2023

Danish bioscience company Kaffe Bueno launched their “Find Beauty in Coffee” line which features four new sustainable, active and effective personal care ingredients upcycled from coffee by-products – KAFFOIL-R™, KAFFAGE™, KAFFAIR™ and KA-ZuN™

KAFFOIL-R™ is the second generation of the company’s KAFFOIL™ - the first upcycled lipophilic extract derived from coffee by-products using an environmentally friendly extraction process. It is an eco-friendly and sustainable alternative to Argan oil, thanks to its bioactivity for hair and skin, as well as for palm oil, thanks to its functional properties.

KAFFAGE™, on the other hand, is an upcycled amphiphilic bio-polymer with high antioxidative and anti-glycation activity, while being a natural SPF booster. It helps formulations mimic skin tone, reducing the need for iron oxides. Plus, its natural emulsifying and antimicrobial properties make it easy to formulate with, making it a recommended ingredient for BB creams, foundations, concealers, etc.

KAFFAIR™ is a patent-pending active scalp and hair ingredient upcycled from coffee. It induces the expression of human growth factors IGF1, VEGF, and FGF7 genes, associated with strengthened cuticles and follicles helping prevent hair loss – perfect for scalp and hair treatments. It further cleanses hair fibres from environmental pollutants thanks to its strong metal chelating properties making it ideal for shampoos.

In vivo for KAFFAGE™ and KAFFAIR™ coming during 2023.

Finally, Kaffe Bueno announced two new ingredients will come this year – an anionic and non-ionic biosurfactant range derived from their upcycled coffee oil, and a coated mineral UV filter aimed at reducing photocatalytic activity and white cast effect of ZnO and TiO2.

Kaffe Bueno's launch of four new upcycled ingredients at in-cosmetics Global highlights how coffee upcycling can aid the industry's move to natural solutions while retaining efficacy and cost-effectiveness. For further details on their benefits, visit - www.beautyincoffee.com.
