JD Beauty sells majority stake to private equity firm Topspin

The US company handles brands including Wet Brush, Lure, Mr. Clip and bombshell

JD Beauty, a US designer and marketer of branded professional hair brushes and beauty accessories, has sold a majority stake to private equity firm Topspin Partners.

JD Beauty handles brands including Wet Brush, Lure, Mr. Clip, bombshell, luxor pro, basicare, TS2 and Latina; Wet Brush is the company’s flagship brand.

Jeff Rosenzweig, Founder and CEO of JD Beauty, said: “We believe we are only at the beginning of building JD Beauty and the Wet Brush brand and are excited to have Topspin as our partner going forward.”

JD Beauty is said to be the number one selling hair brush brand in the professional channel in the US and the fastest growing in the consumer retail channel.

The deal was overseen by investment bank Intrepid Investment Bankers. Steve Davis, Managing Director and Head of the Beauty & Personal Care practice at Intrepid, said: “The Wet Brush has developed a passionate following with stylists and consumers, and Jeff and his team have done a tremendous job expanding the brand into new channels and geographies.
