Adds to analytical testing and research capabilities

Intertek, an international provider of quality and safety solutions, has bought American Analytical Chemistry Laboratories Corp (AACL), for US$6.9m, broadening its testing capabilities.

AACL, based in Champaign, Illinois, US, provides analytical testing and research services to companies that develop, produce and distribute pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals, cosmetics, drinks, nutritional supplements, food, functional foods and nutraceuticals. Its chemical testing services help companies monitor for the presence of residues, pesticides and antibiotics in order to establish compliance with regulations as well as quality and health standards.

The firm also helps clients verify nutrient content and other properties during the product development or registration stages of regulated products.

Intertek Food Services president Jochen Zoller said the acompany’s acquisition of AACL broadens its capabilities, including quality, risk and safety assessments, commodity testing and analytics, inspections, auditing and certification.
