The professional beauty retailer is looking to back US-based female founded startups as part of its Sally Beauty Cultivate programme

Professional cosmetics retailer Sally Beauty is on the hunt for the next big female-founded hair brand.

Budding entrepreneurs have until 18 July to enter the Sally Beauty Cultivate accelerator programme and be in the chance of receiving US$25,000 to bolster business.

Sally Beauty will also provide mentorship, influencer marketing support and distribution via sallybeauty.com.

Jamira Johnson, VP Digital and Innovation at Sally Beauty, said: "We believe there is so much hair care innovation happening every day in women's homes, salons, and communities.

“We want to encourage that innovation to thrive and grow."

To be considered the hair care, colour or tool must be based in the US and not currently have a major retail partnership.

After the July closing date, three semi-finalists will be selected through a consumer vote and the winner will be chosen after a business pitch at Sally Beauty HQ in Texas, US.

Carrie McDermott, President of Sally Beauty, added: "We continue to be inspired by all of the terrific women entrepreneurs we have met over the years and believe in supporting women who are developing products to make her best accessory, her hair, even better."
