During the second half of 2013 Expac carried out a large investment project to further develop the companies offering to the personal care industry. Expac are mostly known for their powder and liquid filling equipment which enables them to manufacture products like talcum powder, surfactant based washes and lotion products. Following on from the investment during 2013 Expac now have the ability to manufacture and fill alcohol based products. Within the remit of the new manufacturing facility Expac can now manufacture products like fine fragrance, alcohol based room sprays and reed diffusers. This facility has enabled Expac to enter a new market sector and has moved the company a step closer to being able to manufacture and supply a full range of personal care goods.
The manufacturing facility was completed during the autumn of 2013 and has been operational since, producing over 150,000 units. Expac’s drive to continue to improve the company hasn’t stopped there, as following on from research carried out by the company it was found that a large proportion of potential customers would be more inclined to move their business if their chosen supplier was able to offer the full service for their product range.
When the research was carried out Expac was able to blend, fill and pack alcohol based products but many of the brands that were on the market had their products cello wrapped as well. All of the products that were manufactured by Expac that required cello wrapping had to be contracted out, which was incurring an unnecessarily expensive cost. In turn Expac decided that it would be worthwhile in the long run to invest in a cello wrapping machine to add to the offerings for the Expac customers. Expac can now offer the full service required when manufacturing an alcohol based product.
The facility can now blend, fill into a range of different packaging mediums, pack into any display format, cell wrap and then pack into a transit case and palletise. The ability to offer this full service has proven very beneficial to the current Expac customer base and something that is bringing in new enquiries each week.
Following on from this development the manufacturing facility now has the following equipment:
- x2 500 litre mixing vessels
- 500 litre holding tank
- 8 tonne storage tank
- Alcohol chilling vessel
- In line filter
- ATEC standard electrics throughout the entire production area
- Dual head filling line
- Cello wrapping machine
