The French selective cosmetics market fell by 1.5% in 2013, according to figures from NPD Group and French trade association the Fédération Française de Parfumerie Selective (FFPS).
It is the second consecutive year of decline for the sector, which fell by 0.9% in 2012. Within the results, however, there was considerable variation, with make-up and skin care performing better than perfumes, and independent retailers the hardest-hit sector, with a fall of 9.8% in turnover.
