Tabac launches festive Shave The Day campaign with Age UK to help combat loneliness in British male pensioners

Tabac, a UK fragrance brand has launched its Shave The Day campaign in partnership with Age UK to tackle loneliness among older men in Britain.

The campaign aims to give elderly men a chance to socialise with others in a barber setting during the festive period, which can be a very isolating time of year.

In order to achieve this, the campaign recently called on UK barbers to open their doors to elderly members of their local community to offer complimentary treatments on 7 December.

In order to promote the campaign, Tabac also released a promotional video highlighting the positive impact that pamper sessions can have on older men.

The video was filmed at Tabac Ambassador, Luke Dolan’s, barber shop in Ruislip, West London, UK.

The video features members of The Geezers, a social group supported by Age UK that meets weekly to take part in activities.

In the video, members of The Geezers are seen receiving complimentary shaves and hair cuts, and engage in conversation with the barbers.

Dolan said: “As our communities change around us, like pubs closing, community centres shutting and halls closing their doors, our habitat is changing and our elderly suffer because of it.

“Barbershops are opening up at an amazing rate and they have community spirit at their very heart and that’s why I wanted to play my little part in bringing back some of these community values and get people talking to each other, young or old.”

Any barbers that is willing to take part in the campaign will be featured on Tabac’s social media pages as an official location for the #ShaveTheDay openings.

Barbershops interested in taking part in the Shave The Day campaign can visit the Facebook page to register their interest.
