Exclusive: Dr Pimple Popper's Sandra Lee reveals how to leverage beauty social media subcultures

The dermatologist is best known for her reality television series popping cysts and blackheads, but the owner of SLMD Skincare tapped into unfiltered beauty a decade before the mainstream industry

There are very few who have a CV like Sandra Lee, aka Dr Pimple Popper. While most of the beauty industry has only recently embraced unfiltered skin publicly, the upbeat dermatologist has been sharing stomach churning videos of cysts and blackhead extractions to her millions of fans, who lovingly call themselves 'popaholics', for nearly a decade.

"I've popped more pimples in my life than I could ever imagine," laughs Lee, while on a video call with Cosmetics Business. "I often joke that I'm the Pied Piper of pimples, the person that people think of when they think about pimples."

So it's no surprise then that her tightly edited skin care brand SLMD Skincare, which has just launched into the UK, focuses on combating acne with tried and tested ingredients.
