Chemical specialist’s review highlights recent sustainability successes and future goals

Eastman Chemical Company has introduced a new review which outlines how sustainability can act as a key driver of growth and innovation for the company’s products and practices.

The Our Sustainability Journey review highlights Eastman’s recent sustainability strategy successes, including the EPA Presidential Green Challenge Award for its green biocatalytic process, as well as focusing on short and mid-term goals in three key areas.

Within economic growth, the company intends that two-thirds of revenue from new product launches will offer sustainability benefits compared with alternatives on the market; while its environmental goals include a 25% reduction in energy intensity and a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas intensity over the next 10 years. Finally within the area of social responsibility, Eastman has pledged to continue expanding its policy of employee wellbeing and training, as well as its links with key value chain influencers such as global trade organisations, non-government organisations and industrial designers.

“We believe sustainability is foundational to Eastman’s continued successful innovation efforts and is, in fact, the key to solving future problems for our customers and our world,” commented Mark Costa, executive vp with responsibility for sustainability initiatives. “We’re excited to launch our first sustainability review with captures the progress we’ve made on our journey so far.”
