EFfCI issues cosmetic GMP guidelines

The European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients (EFfCI) has developed a set of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines to help both EFfCI members and others within the industry ensure high safety standards for cosmetic ingredients and manufacturing processes. Controlling all the components that may affect product quality can help manufacturers, suppliers, retailers and wholesalers minimise incidents of contamination, mix-ups and other errors.


The European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients (EFfCI) has developed a set of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines to help both EFfCI members and others within the industry ensure high safety standards for cosmetic ingredients and manufacturing processes. Controlling all the components that may affect product quality can help manufacturers, suppliers, retailers and wholesalers minimise incidents of contamination, mix-ups and other errors.

The federation has also entered into a long-term partnership with inspection, verification, testing and certification specialist SGS, which will audit and certify member compliance.

“Manufacturers who have certified their manufacturing operations through these new GMP guidelines from EFfCI will be able to export their products into other regions more easily,” stated Eize de Boer, global manager for life science auditing at SGS. “This goes equally for manufacturers of cosmetic ingredients as well as finished products.”
