Growth was prompted by international sales, which grew 1.9% in the seven month period to 31 March
Driven by international sales, German beauty retailer Douglas has ended the seven month period to 31 March 2013 with a sales increase of 0.9% to €2bn. Its home market of Germany saw sales climb 0.5%, while international sales grew 1.9%. Online sales, meanwhile, contributed to 8% of total company sales.
Within the company’s perfumery business, sales reached €1.1bn – a 3.4% increase on the prior year period. Internationally, sales climbed 2.5% to almost €500m, prompted by strong results in Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Turkey, and the Baltic States. Business in Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Croatia however, showed declining numbers.
