The Nestlé-owned skin care brand is aiming to educate consumers on the punch retinoids pack in fighting the skin condition all through this week
Differin, the Nestlé-owned skin care and acne treatment brand, has kicked off its Retinoid Education Week in a bid to educate consumers with acne about the vital role retinoids play in treating their condition.
Prescription topical retinoids have traditionally been used to treat acne for more than 45 years, clearing skin breakouts deep in the pores and preventing new acne from forming, restoring skin's texture and tone.
However, despite being recommended by dermatologists to treat acne, they have only recently been made available over the counter with the brand's Differin Gel, which contains adapalene – the only FDA-approved acne-fighting retinoid available without a prescription.
June Risser, Vice President and General Manager, Consumer Business at Nestlé Skin Health, said: "By initiating Retinoid Education Week, we hope to provide consumers with the tools and resources they need to better understand this innovative acne-fighting ingredient, including what to expect during treatment and the ideal regimen to take care of their skin.”
Differin's consulting dermatologist, Dr Melissa Kanchanapoomi Levin, added: "Retinoids are the absolute backbone of an effective acne regimen since they treat and prevent acne by declogging pores, normalizing skin cell turnover and acting as an anti-inflammatory agent.
"Whether you are using the product to treat blackheads, whiteheads, mild to moderate acne or even occasional breakouts, a retinoid-containing topical treatment is my most common and reliable recommendation for patients.”
As part of the campaign, taking place this week across print and digital advertising, social media and in-store, Differin is helping US consumers start their journey to clear skin with a coupon for $3 off any of its products.
Consumers can download the limited-time offer, valid on one Differin product during the promotional period, at coupons.com.
