DSM’s Nutrition business enjoys best ever Q2

Personal care contributes to 10% sales increase


Skin, hair and sun care ingredients supplier DSM has reported second quarter 2011 net sales of €2,265m, an increase of 7% on the same period of the previous year. Operating profit before depreciation and amortisation amounted to €339m, up 2% year on year.

Meanwhile DSM’s Nutrition business, which includes its personal care portfolio, enjoyed its best ever quarter, with sales of €839m, an increase of 10% on the second quarter of 2010.

Overall sales for the first half of the year were €4,644m, compared with €4,636m in the first half of 2010.

DSM believes it is well positioned for the full year 2011. “Whilst general economic forecasts for the year continue to be positive, there are increased uncertainties related to the global economy,” comments Feike Sijbesma, ceo and chairman of DSM’s managing board. “However we believe we are well positioned with our balanced, relatively resilient portfolio… and with our broad geographic footprint, strong technology and leading market positions.”
