The company has acquired the Specialty Products business of Arizona Chemical in a bid to step up its offering in the polymers area

Specialty chemicals company Croda has acquired the Specialty Products business of US based Arizona Chemical. In line with the transaction, Croda has started the transition of these the products into its portfolio, including the transfer of production to its manufacturing site in Europe.

As well as growing Croda’s footprint in the polymers area, the acquisition extends the company’s offering of oil gelling polymers. This includes naturally derived polyamides with high bio-renewable content including Sylvaclear, Sylvasol, Uniclear and Sylvagel.

“We are pleased to expand our portfolio of effects with this acquisition. The varied functionality of these specialised polyamides as film formers, water repellent agents, polymeric emulsion stabilisers, structuring agents, rheology modifiers, pigment stabilisers and active delivery systems will be a valuable addition to our offerings across all the market sectors serviced by Croda. In addition, we see many opportunities to further differentiate the technology and create value for ourselves and our customers,” said Keith Layden, Croda’s Chief Technology Officer.
