The French luxury goods company said it will supply 40 million masks

Following its announcement to switch fragrance production to hand sanitiser manufacturing, luxury consumer goods firm LVMH has responded to France’s shortage of surgical masks.

The French company has pledged to supply the country with approximately 40 million masks over the next four weeks.

LVMH secured the order with a Chinese industrial supplier, which will send seven million surgical masks and three million FFP2 masks each week.

In order to secure the order, LVMH financed the first week of deliveries, which is said to have cost €5 million.

The owner of Givenchy, Acqua Di Parma and Benefit Cosmetics said the masks would be deployed this week as a result of the additional funding.

France has reported almost 20,000 cases of coronavirus, which has taken the lives of 860 people.
