Speciality chemicals supplier opens Shanghai headquarters

Swiss speciality chemicals company Clariant has further strengthened its position in China with the opening of its new Greater China headquarters in Shanghai. The facility, which also includes a new technical application centre for pigments, follows the launch of Clariant’s new multipurpose plant in Zhenjiang and coincides with the start up of its new Quinacridon pigment joint venture in Hangzhou. A new ethoxylation facility in Dayabay is also under construction and is scheduled to open in mid 2011. Clariant estimates that by 2011 the company will have invested CHF150m in the region.

“Setting up the new Greater China headquarters and the new production site in Hangzhou reflects Clariant’s confidence in the stability and growth of the Chinese economy,” commented ceo Hariolf Knottman.
