Botaneco, the US-based natural ingredients manufacturer, has opened a new laboratory in New Jersey to formulate sustainable ingredients for personal care companies.

The New Jersey Sustainability Center of Excellence will focus on formulations derived from oilseeds, such as oleosomes, which function as natural delivery systems.

The company hopes to extract the benefits of oilseeds to create new product innovations with a range of benefits for skin, sun and hair care applications.

James Szarko, President & CEO of Botaneco, said: “As personal care product innovators move to advance the capabilities of personal care formulas, and at the same time improve the sustainability profile of products, they may now call on the formulation experts at Botaneco.

“Through a sustainable process, we isolate natural, multifunctional ingredients from oilseeds that enhance the performance of your personal care products.”

Szarko added that Botaneco's new location in New York's metropolitan area brings the company closer to major name brand companies interested in developing sustainable personal care products.

Botaneco's product offering includes Hydresia oleosomes, which the company claims is the only natural emulsifier available for use in personal care; CapSol sunscreen technology, for use in anti-ageing SPF products; and Karmyn protein, a safflower-based protein with hair and skin protection benefits.
