Boots poaches Richard Reed to head trading division

The new Director will be joining the Walgreens Boots Alliance retailer from goods giant Reckitt Benckiser

Boots has appointed Richard Reed as Trading Director for Boots UK and Republic of Ireland.

He will be joining the Walgreens Boots Alliance company from consumer goods giant Reckitt Benckiser, where he was Vice President for International Customer Development.

Reed will join the retailer next month and will report to Elizabeth Fagan, Managing Director Boots UK & ROI.

Prior to joining Reckitt Benckiser in 2013, Reed worked with major FMCG brands such as Kellogg's and P&G.

He is said to bring international sales and retail experience to Boots.

Commenting on Reed’s appointment, Fagan said: “I’m delighted that such an experienced Trading Director is joining the Boots UK Executive.

“Richard will play a vital role in building our future as we continue to be the leading pharmacy-led health and beauty retailer.”

His appointment follows a series of strategic changes made by Fagan since her promotion to MD last year.

The retailer moved its £80m creative account to Ogilvy, after 13 years with independent advertising agency Mother.

Helen Normoyle, who joined Boots last month from estate agency group Countrywide and was previously a BBC Director, has been appointed as Marketing Director for Boots UK and Republic of Ireland.
