Amyris-owned beauty brand Biossance has inked its first UK retail deal with online retailer Cult Beauty.

Following its establishment in 2015, the brand entered Sephora stores in 2017, a move that led to global expansion across Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Southeast Asia, New Zealand and Australia.

First to land on Cult Beauty are eight hero products from Biossance’s squalane-infused line.

“We are proud to continue our global expansion into the UK market by introducing the best performing skin care with clean and sustainable formulas that deliver unprecedented results,” said Biossance’s President Catherine Gore.

The US brand’s squalane hero ingredient mimics the skin’s natural moisturising agent squalene, which helps to keep the outer layer hydrated and protected.

The ingredient is formulated from plants and renewable sugarcane, then bio-fermented.

Biossance selects its ingredients depending on their environmental credentials and are housed in compostable boxes.

“Our products use the most effective and conscious ingredients,” added Gore.

“We want our customers to know that why they are putting on their skin is good for them, the environment and is ultimately giving them their healthiest skin yet.”

The brand is verified by the Environmental Working Group.
