BioAktive Group, US based owner of BioAktive Specialty Products and BSP Sourcing, has pivoted its business to focus on essential medical products and PPE during the Covid-19 pandemic.
With an on the ground presence in China and experience with PPE, BSP Sourcing, the company’s sourcing and supply chain business, offers a range of products in raw materials and life sciences, and already had an existing business in disposable medical products, or PPE.
Due to the increased demand from the market and in order to support, the company is now focused on providing masks, respirators and other protective products.
“This is something that we have already been active in for several years,” said Solomon Matzner.
“Previously this was a small part of my business, but now, because of the Covid pandemic, we have seen a shift in our business at BSP Sourcing from requests for mainly chemical raw materials to almost exclusively these products, such as masks, respirators, gloves and gowns.”
The company has business working with governments and private businesses in Europe and North America and is now expanding into new markets both directly and through partners. The company has also launched a new section of its website focusing on PPE, bspsourcing.com/ppe.
“We see continued demand in Europe and the US,” says Robin Willmann, BioAktive Cofounder. “We consider ourselves fortunate to be in the position to help those in need and know that this is a situation that will not last weeks but that will be with us for the coming 12-18 months.
"We are also working with new partners in South America and are doing everything we can to support those who reach out to us.”
BSP sourcing focuses on qualified suppliers and quality products. The company is doing extensive suppler vetting and qualification to ensure compliance and quality.
Despite the company’s experience and resources however, the company says that during In the current environment, there are a series of challenges and complexities.
“This is not just a business that you can step into," said Mr. Willmann. "The situation is highly fluid and changes happen sometimes on a daily basis. There are are a series of bottlenecks and hurdles, from production quality to regulatory changes to logistics and shipping backlogs."
