BASF offers long lasting scalp hydration

BASF has announced that its hydra-protect technology for skin moisturisation, PatcH2O, is suitable for hair care applications.

The patch technology combines natural biopolymers, hyaluronic acid, alginate and pullulan to form a 3D molecular mesh that reduces water evaporation.

A double-blind placebo-controlled clinical study on female volunteers with different skin and hair types (Caucasian, African, Hispanic and Asian) showed a significant, immediate and sustained improvement in scalp moisturisation.

Skin hydration was increased by up to 52% against baseline.
