Q: I am a manager and need to recruit a new member of my team in the next few months.
I am unsure if now is the best time to be hiring because of the pandemic and I am concerned that the 'perfect candidate' might not be on the lookout for new opportunities at this time.
Do you think anyone is looking for a new job at the moment and how should I go about finding the right person?
A: Right now, it’s as though the whole world has pressed pause. I've spoken recently to candidates who have decided to focus on getting through the next few weeks and months, without taking risks or actively job hunting, but a great career move will always pique the interest of the right candidate.
On a positive note, I'm also working with companies who are recruiting and onboarding very successfully, finding new ways of working like using online technology for interviews, team induction and training.
