The South African hair care market grew 6% in current value terms in the past year to South African Rand ZAR6.6bn (US$488.4m), according to Euromonitor International, and will register a projected CAGR growth of 1% in constant value terms over the next five years.

The market has shown strong growth in segments including perms, relaxants and hair colourants, says Rubab Shaikh Abdoolla, Cape Town-based Research Analyst at Euromonitor, driven by personal grooming trends and notably younger consumers striving for perfection when posting selfies on social media.
