A rosy take on musk from The Body Shop

IFF’s Sophie Labbé creates third fragrance in the brand’s White Musk line, White Musk Smoky Rose

The Body Shop has added a third pillar to its iconic White Musk fragrance franchise. Described as a seductive floriental evening scent, White Musk Smoky Rose was created by International Flavors & Fragrances’ (IFF) VP Senior Perfumer Sophie Labbé. The scent opens with a fusion of bergamot, pink pepper and blackcurrant before moving to a heart of bitter-sweet tobacco flower and a black smoky rose accord, tempered with delicate orange flower. Finally, cruelty-free musks, immortelle flower and olibanum add sensuality at base.

The new fragrance joins the original cruelty-free White Musk scent – launched in 1981 – and a more playful take, White Musk Libertine, which was created to mark the 30th anniversary of White Musk in 2011, in the White Musk line-up.

White Musk Smoky Rose, like all The Body Shop fragrances since 2009, uses organic Community Fair Trade alcohol derived from sugar cane grown by farmers from the CADO cooperative in Ecuador.

The scent is available from 6 October as an edt in 30ml and 60ml sizes for £10 and £15, respectively, as well as an edp (£13/30ml). A fragrance mist (£7.50), scented body lotion (£10) and bath & shower gel (£6.50) complete the White Musk Smoky Rose line-up.
