AAK trades millionth GreenPalm certificate
GreenPalm, the AAK-founded certificate trading programme that promotes sustainable palm oil production has traded a million certificates. Two years after its first certificate was traded one million tonnes of sustainable palm oil have been directly funded by manufacturers and retailers throughout the world. That’s one million tonnes that otherwise might not have been produced using methods approved by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil.
By joining GreenPalm and trading certificates, palm oil producers have earned an additional $9m for their efforts – a clear incentive to continue working sustainably and a powerful message to other producers that the sustainable route is a commercially worthwhile one to take.
