Cosmetics Business rounds up 10 beauty launches inspired by the spooky season

With Halloween just around the corner, the beauty industry has released a whole host of autumn-inspired fragrances and make-up throughout October.

The appetite for Halloween products has been on the rise in recent years, with the British population expected to spend £687m on Halloween in 2022 - according to price comparison website finder.com.

Capitalising on the increased popularity, Lush has launched a trio of autumnal skin and body care products. New launches also include Revolution Beauty’s Beetlejuice collection, along with a Hocus Pocus 2-inspired collection by Colourpop.

1. Yumi Beauty

Yumi Beauty has launched The Witching Hour, a new gel nail collection inspired by autumn.

The range of colours features shades of midnight blue, dark turquoise, terracotta and raspberry reds, as well as two glitter shades.

It features an ultra-strong pigment with a creamy texture, and the shades are said to be self-levelling and not cause shrinking.

2. Vilshenko

The new Autumn Doll candle from Vilshenko forms part of the brand's inaugural Four Seasons collection of fragranced candles.

The scent combines blackberry, nutmeg and patchouli, combined with jasmine, bergamot and plum.

It has been shaped to resemble a traditional matryoshka doll, the distinctive earthenware vessel which is based on the Khokhloma painting technique symbolising the importance of forests in Slavic culture.

3. Diptyque

Diptyque has launched Citrouille, a new limited-edition candle for the autumn season.

Inspired by the flavour of pumpkin pies, the new candle blends the crisp, green accents of the pumpkin, with the flavour of chestnut for a scent that aims to capture the spirit of autumn. 

The candle retails for £54, and will only be available until the end of the month from diptyqueparis.com.

4. NYX

NYX Professional Makeup has launched an exclusive make-up collection inspired by the famous Cirque du Soleil circus act.

The collection offers limited-edition SFX Face and Body Paints in seven mattifying shades, as well as a new, intense black shade of the brand’s Lip Lingerie XXL.

A Star Stamp, which can be applied directly to the face or body, and Jumbo Eyelashes also feature in the range.

The assortment is available to purchase at Walmart, ULTA, CVS, Target, Walgreens, Macy's, Nordstrom Rack and online at nyxcosmetics.com and Amazon.

5. Paul Smith

With fragrance notes of grapefruit, amber, pimento and cedarwood, Paul Smith’s newly launched Bookworm candle has been designed to mimic a cosy library on a rainy day. 

Each candle is hand-poured, with the wax being housed in a tinted glass vessel complete with a contrasting lid that doubles as a coaster. 

Customers can purchase the candle for £65 at selfridges.com.

6. Revolution Beauty

The Beetlejuice x Makeup Revolution collection has dropped just in time for Halloween.

Colourful eyeliners and a green mascara are included in the range, along with a make-up bag and lipstick.

A set of false nails and white base powder also feature, letting customers create a make-up look inspired by the hit 1980s movie.

7. Lush

Lush has launched a trio of autumn and halloween inspired products.

The Mr Pumpkin Face fresh face mask (£10) contains organic pumpkin seed butter, which provides a smoothing effect for the face.

Ground pumpkin seeds also help to give a gentle buff to the skin as the user takes the mask off.

Its new Blood Orange shower gel (£14) contains a triple dose of orange including a peel infusion, the juice and the organic blood orange oil.

Lush said when applied to the skin, it provides an antibacterial, cleansing and brightening effect.

The organic blood orange oil is purchased from a distiller in Sicily, Italy, and the oil is cold-pressed. 

Finally, the Lord of Misrule Massage Bar (£8) can be swept over the skin to melt the butters and release a patchouli and vanilla scent.

8. Lottie London

Lottie London’s new The Vampire Diaries: Love Sucks collection has dropped ahead of Halloween. 

The seven-piece Love Sucks make-up collection features blushes and lipsticks, as well as a crescent moon stamp eyeliner and liquid liner pens.

The range’s colour palette offers deep blacks and vibrant blood reds, a clear nod to the franchise's vampire theme.

In keeping with the teen dramas dark and moody atmosphere, Lottie London will be accepting blood donation as ‘payment’ for the new Love Sucks range.

The Blood for Beauty campaign in response to UK blood banks experiencing a national shortage.

9. Ginori 1735

10 spooky beauty launches available just in time for Halloween

British designer Luke Edward Hall partnered with Ginori 1735 to create the Centauro Palazzo Candle.

Part of the Profumi Luchino Collection, the candle was inspired by the Palazzo Centauro in Venice and the smell of incense experienced when walking past the city’s open church doors.

Ginori said the scent compliments the autumn season with notes of Italian bergamot, incense, cedar wood, birch resin and patchouli.

10. Colourpop


Rounding off the list is Colourpop’s full Hocus Pocus 2 make-up collection.

The All Hallows Eve Pressed Powder Palette features 15 shades, including orange, forest green and purple in matte, metallic, matte sparkle and pearlescent glitter finishes.

Colourpop’s So Glassy Lip Gloss comes with three prismatic pearl shades inspired by each Sanderson Sister.

Also included is the SOL Shimmering Body Powder, which uses a proprietary liquid-powder highlighter that helps to provide a radiant glow for the skin.
