Arch, B&T, DSM, Gattefossé, Lipotec, Seiwa Kasei, Seppic and Unipex make shortlist

in-cosmetics Asia has announced the finalists of its Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award. Event organiser Reed has partnered with SPC Asia to introduce the new award which will recognise the development of a novel active or functional ingredient that combines innovative science and product features that demonstrate benefits to manufacturers and end users when compared with existing ingredients.

“Following the successful introduction of the Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award at our sister show in Europe, we were very keen to introduce it at the Asia show too,” comments Cathy Laporte, group marketing manager for in-cosmetics Asia. “In an industry that is constantly developing and innovating, it’s essential to encourage and reward the efforts that formulators and R&D specialists put in to coming up with novel ingredients.”

The eight finalists are:
Arch Personal Care Products with ReGeniStem Red Rice, a sustainable anti-ageing active derived from Himalayan Red Rice that is cultivated in a bioreactor, allowing the reproduction of biomass and concentration of actives.
B&T Company with Sensolene Care DD, a protective emollient with functional barrier properties that improves skin moisturisation and visco-elastic properties.
DSM Nutritional Products with REGU-FADE, a potent antioxidant found in red grapes and associated with various health benefits.
Gattefossé with Malt Secrets, a concentrate of purified polyphenols with antioxidant and anti-ageing power.
Lipotec with adifyline, a novel hexapeptide which allows consumers to achieve a younger looking appearance.
Seiwa Kasei Co Ltd with Amitose 2GA and Amitose DGA, new stable derivatives of ascorbic acid which have a high moisturising effect and comfortable texture thanks to glyceryl group in the molecula.
Seppic with Simulgreen 18-2, a natural emulsifier that does not create a soaping effect upon application and remains active over a wide pH range.
Unipex with Capixyl, a unique active complex designed to prevent and stop the hair loss process and stimulate hair growth.

The winners will be announced at the show in Bangkok on Thursday 3 November from 17:30-19:30 in the Marketing Trends Theatre.
