The show welcomed 66 first time exhibitors to bring total to 294

Reed Exhibitions, which organises in-cosmetics Asia, has announced that a record-breaking number of visitors attended the 2012 show. Held in Thailand at Bangkok’s International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC), the three day event attracted 5,598 unique visitors (pre-audit), an increase of 45% on attendance in 2011.

In-cosmetics Asia also welcomed 66 first time exhibitors taking the total number of exhibitors to 294 from 29 countries.

“We knew this was going to be a record year for in-cosmetics Asia but these results have indeed surpassed our expectations,” commented exhibition director Sarah Gibson. “This show has been testament to the flourishing Asian personal care industry. Our research shows that many of our visitors are already planning to visit next year and we now have all the big players firmly engaged with and committed to in-cosmetics Asia.”

“Traditionally, we have seen trends from the west travel to Asian markets,” added Vivienne Rudd, director of insight, Mintel Beauty and Personal Care. “But increasingly we are seeing products originating in Asia make huge waves in Europe and the US. BB creams are just one example. This really is an exciting time for Asia’s cosmetics market as it becomes a focal point for the global industry.”

Highlights included the returning Innovation Zone, which enabled suppliers to showcase recently launched, cutting edge ingredients and for the first time, following visitor demand, exclusive formulations too. Silab, meanwhile, won the Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award, presented in association with SPC Asia.

Elsewhere, Marketing Trends, Innovation Seminars and Formulation Workshops addressed some of the market’s most pressing issues, while Mintel Beauty and Personal Care ran finished product demonstrations.

The verdict from visitors and exhibitors was positive. Visitor Suwattana Charumilinda, assistant managing director at Greth Pharma Thailand said: “The show delivers the perfect package: it abounds with innovation – especially in the Innovation Zone. The international suppliers offer excellent ingredients and data whilst the knowledge you gain from the show is second to none.”

Exhibitor Alain Thibodeau, vp scientific affairs, Innovacos USA, praised the event’s pan-Asian relevance stating: “The show is just the right size and we have seen many customers from India, South Korea, Japan and other countries.”

The next in-cosmetics Asia will return to BITEC on 29-31 October 2013.
