Microbiome balancing claims dominated new facial skin care active ingredient launches at in-cosmetics Global in Amsterdam last week
in-cosmetics Global, which this year returned to Amsterdam’s RAI for the first time in a decade, is – as the world’s premier platform for cosmetic ingredient launches – always a fertile environment for product inspiration.
So it seems fitting that a standout theme of 2018’s event was how to ensure a lush and diverse skin microbiome as a means of boosting overall skin health and beauty.
Preserving the balance of the facial skin microbiome for more beautiful skin was a topic that began to garner interest at in-cosmetics 2017 in London but 2018’s event (17-19 April) was the year this function really skyrocketed.
New ingredients on the theme include aurafirm from Oat Cosmetics, three natural ingredients using colloidal oatmeal fermented in Lactobacilli: aurafirm P which has the highest degree of efficacy in supporting the recovery of skin’s microbiome; aurafirm N for deeper penetration and skin hydration claims; and aurafirm S, an active liquid serum to stabilise the skin barrier and condition hair.
Also launched at in-cosmetics Global was Equibiome from Seppic, an extract from the roots of great burdock, which promotes microbiota biodiversity, resulting in long-lasting comfort, protection and moisturisation.
