The real benefits that the European and American personal care products sectors can gain from a projected European Union (EU)-USA Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) trade deal will come from the parties removing existing regulatory differences, experts say. There are only a few – although still important – duties that restrict transatlantic trade in the sector, so “our objectives relate to harmonisation and/or mutual recognition for ingredients, testing and labelling”, explained Emma Trogen, Legal Director at Cosmetics Europe, which represents the EU personal care product sector.
