Interpolymer gets production started in China

German company Interpolymer has begun production of waterborne styrene-acrylic dispersions, acrylic solutions and wax dispersions at its new facility in Nanjing, China. Constructed on a Greenfield site at the Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park, the plant has a current capacity of 40,000 metric tons annually and is scheduled to be fully operational by June 2009. The company says there is also room for further expansion.

The company says there is also room for further expansion.

“This modern manufacturing site will further strengthen our position as a global supplier of speciality acrylic polymers,” says Siegfried J Gillich, general manager for Interpolymer’s Europe & Asia Pacific business. “Especially our customers services by the sales office and polymer research centre in Shanghai will benefit from the new production site, since we can respond to customer needs much faster and at lower total costs.”

Norwin W Wolff, founder and president of Interpolymer adds: We still have significant demand for tailor-made polymers by individual customers, but we must be close to their regional plants to be successful.”

The company says the plant is able to produce environmentally friendly polymers and additives for personal care products, detergents and cleaners, speciality paints, inks and coatings as well as for tailor-made polymers.
