Innovation will take centre stage at in-cosmetics Asia
Anti-ageing and natural/organic ingredients key themes at 2012 show
According to organiser Reed Exhibitions, the 2012 edition of in-cosmetics Asia will demonstrate the region’s capacity to keep pace with local and international trends. The returning Innovation Zone will showcase standout ingredients launched either at the show or within the past six months. High on the agenda will be anti-ageing ingredients including Cosmetochem’s Colla-Gain, which stimulates collagen production, increases skin density and provides UV protection; The Flawless Duo by Lucas Meyer, which reduces the appearance of age spots in 14 days; and Rahn’s Liftonin-Xpress, said to minimise up to 74% of wrinkles in one hour. By 2050, Asia and the Pacific is expected to be home to 62% of the world’s elderly population, making anti-ageing products particularly relevant to the region.
Natural and organic ingredients will also have a strong presence, with Sharon Laboratories showcasing alternative preservative systems based on organic citrus extracts and Vivimed promoting its Nisarg Soapnut Extract, a natural foaming agent used to replace synthetic surfactants.
Additionally, the Innovation Zone will include a selection of exclusive formulations from exhibitors. Among these are DSM’s Total Collagen Rejuvenating Serum with Syn-TC and Dermal Rejuvenation Cream with DermaCom from Mibelle.
Two awards will be presented at in-cosmetics Asia 2012. The Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award, sponsored by SPC and judged by an expert panel including Dr Aran Puri, Judy Beerling and Dr Alain Khaiat, will honour one outstanding novel ingredient, while the inaugural R&D Awards Asia (hosted by Cosmetics & Toiletries) will recognise science in two categories: Best New Ingredient and Most Creative Application.
Other highlights include Innovation Seminars, which will cover on-trend topics such as treating blemishes, free from products and anti-ageing, and a dedicated area for Mintel Beauty and Personal Care, where visitors can try novel concepts in skin care, hair care and colour cosmetics, like all-in-one gels from Japan and CC creams.
