Elliot Isaacs is stepping down from his position as executive founder of Medik8 after 13 years at the company.

The cosmetic scientist, who founded the British cosmeceutical brand in 2009, announced that he will no longer work in his hands-on role at the skin care brand.

He is taking a step back and joining the Medik8 board as a non-executive director.

The premium skin care brand is focused on science-based skin ageing products and is known for its retinol formulations, gaining many celebrity fans such as model Hailey Bieber.

Isaacs revealed the news in a LinkedIn post on 1 October. “It is against this humbling year-end crescendo that I announce (is that a fleck of dust in my eye) today I will be stepping back from the day-to-day at Medik8, and will be joining the board as a non-executive director," he wrote.

“This transition has been meticulously planned for. I feel incredibly grateful to have the chance to seek out new adventures, yet, still be connected to Medik8.”

He added: “As I peak back over my shoulder, it is a bitter-sweet moment. I am sad to say goodbye to so many colleagues, customers, investors, suppliers, advisers, journalists and friends, but I am proud beyond words of everything we have achieved together.

“I also wish to extend my deepest gratitude to our network of dedicated distributor partners around the world, for believing in my crazy dream and catapulting Medik8 from science lab obscurity to bathroom cabinet sensation. The revolution has only just started.”

Last year, private equity firm Investor Inflexion invested in the UK’s Pangaea Laboratories, which is owner of the Medik8 skin care brand.
