The Kings Cross space will allow the sustainable hair care brand to train more hairdressers and expand its presence in the region

Davines, the sustainable hair care brand, has unveiled its first House & Academy in London, UK.

Located in the capital’s Kings Cross, the 4,600sqft space will offer a menu of training courses and workshops for hairdressers, teaching skills including hair cuts, colour and techniques.

In keeping with the brand’s ethos, the Academy features a sustainable theme throughout, with more than 30,000 plants including a living plant wall crafted from monsteras, pothos, philodendrons, prayer plants and asplenium ferns.

The academy also utilises an intelligent lighting system, which is designed to boost employees’ wellbeing by automatically adjusting light levels according to external conditions.

Meanwhile, the decor includes timber made from recyclable materials, cushion covers crafted from reused plastic bottles and curtains from sustainably sourced fabrics, according to the company.

“Community is at the heart of who we are as Davines, and the building of our new House and Academy in London creates a home for our people and our partners,” said Matt Martin, General Manager of Davines UK & Ireland.

“It is a space that brings to life the purpose and culture of our company, designed to have a positive impact for all that visit us.

“The location of our House was key, being in the heart of the city and enabling us to welcome customers from all over the UK and Republic of Ireland.

“Our purpose-built Academy will enable us to train more hairdressers than ever before, alongside our portfolio of courses available through our regional academy partners.”

“We’re incredibly excited to be opening our home and start writing the next chapter for Davines in the UK and Republic of Ireland.”

The brand’s first purpose-built academy in the UK joins Davines’ AllilON Education space for professionals in London’s Covent Garden, started by Davines Academy founders Johnny Othona and Pedro Inchenko.

It joins Davines’ global academies in its native Parma, Italy; Demeter, the Netherlands; and New York and Chicago in the US.
